When the Platform is visited for the first time www.persy.com, the visitor will be required to accept the use of cookies in accordance with the terms of these rules. By using the Platform and accepting this Policy, the visitor agrees that the Platform may use the cookies and similar technologies specified herein. A visitor is any person who visits the Platform, including registered and unregistered users.
ESSENCE OF COOKIES
A cookie is a small file consisting of letters and numbers, which is stored on the visitor’s computer, mobile device or other equipment when there is internet access. The cookie is installed by a request sent from the server of a given web page to the browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Chrome) and is completely passive, i.e. it does not contain software programs, viruses or spyware and does not access user hardware information.
PURPOSE OF USING COOKIES
Persy uses cookies or similar tools in the Platform to improve its performance and user experience in compliance with all applicable standards and legislation. Generally, the purpose of cookies is to ensure the efficiency and usability of the Platform, to provide its proper functioning and to remember important actions such as login data of a registered user, which sections of the Platform he/she visits, whether certain settings were saved, and whether error messages are received from certain categories. With the help of cookies, the Platform correctly displays performed orders, submitted requests, goods and services saved in the “Request for Quote” section.
Cookies make it possible to recognize the device of the registered user and present the content of the Platform in a way adapted to the user’s preferences, actions and wishes. Cookies are also used in preparing anonymous statistics that help the Platform understand how a visitor prefers to use the Platform, in order to improve its structure and content, excluding identification of the user’s personality.
WHAT COOKIES DOES THE PLATFORM USE
The Platform uses several types of cookies – mandatory, session cookies and third-party cookies.
Mandatory cookies (strictly necessary cookies)
They are strictly necessary for the Platform to perform its functions and are stored as a file on the visitor’s computer or mobile device for a long period of time, usually for the duration set by the cookies or until manually deleted by the user. The Platform uses these cookies to establish the authenticity of visitors and registered users, to provide services correctly, for Persy to fulfill concluded contracts and accepted Terms and to maintain data security. These cookies cannot be disabled from the Platform. They are usually set only in response to actions made by the visitor which represent a request for services, such as setting privacy preferences or logging in. They may be blocked in the browser, but this may make it impossible to use the full functionality of the Platform.
Performance cookies
Performance cookies collect information about how users interact with the Platform. These data are used only to improve its functioning.
Session cookies
Session cookies are temporary files that remain on the visitor’s device during the visit to the Platform and are active until the end of the user session or closing of the browser, or manual deletion depending on the browser settings. The Platform uses session cookies, for example:
- to allow the user to move between sections without re-entering login data;
- to recognize the user when he/she returns to the Platform.
THIRD-PARTY COOKIES AND TECHNOLOGIES
The Platform may also use some of the above cookies belonging to third parties. These cookies are managed by the respective third parties and are not controlled by the Platform. Some can be disabled using browser settings, while for others it is necessary to visit the provider’s site and follow their instructions. These providers may collect the visitor’s IP address and information that does not constitute personal data.
LINKS TO OTHER SITES
The Platform contains links that may lead the visitor to websites of other organizations. For example, logging in via Microsoft or Google profile. Data processing by that other site is not the responsibility of the Platform. Such websites, services and applications may set their own cookies, collect data or request personal information.
DO COOKIES CONTAIN PERSONAL DATA
Cookies themselves do not require personal data in order to be used and most often do not identify users. Personal data collected through cookies can only be gathered to facilitate the user’s use of the website. These data are encrypted to prevent unauthorized access.
CAN COOKIES BE BLOCKED AND HOW
By default, some browsers allow cookies to be stored. These settings may be changed to block cookies or notify the user each time a cookie is sent. More detailed info is available in the browser settings. Restricting cookies may affect some functions of the Platform.
Most browsers allow visitors to refuse cookies:
- In Internet Explorer (v10): “Settings” → “Internet Options” → “Privacy” → “Advanced”.
- In Firefox (v24): “Tools” → “Options” → “Privacy” → “Use custom settings for history”.
- In Chrome (v29): “Customize and control” → “Settings” → “Show advanced settings” → “Content settings”.
DELETING COOKIES
Cookies already stored on the user’s computer can be deleted:
- In Internet Explorer (v10) manually (instructions HERE).
- In Firefox (v24): “Tools” → “Options” → “Privacy” → “Use custom settings for history” → “Show cookies”.
- In Chrome (v29): “Customize and control” → “Settings” → “Show advanced settings” → “Clear browsing data”.
WHY COOKIES ARE IMPORTANT ON THE INTERNET
Cookies are central for the effective functioning of the Internet, helping to build user preference and interest models. Refusing or disabling cookies may make some websites unusable.
SECURITY AND CONFIDENTIALITY
Cookies are NOT viruses. They are simple text files and cannot execute code or self-replicate. They cannot be considered viruses.
However, cookies can still be used for negative purposes as they store preferences and browsing history. They may be exploited as a form of spyware. Many anti-spyware programs flag cookies for removal.
Browsers usually have privacy settings providing different levels of acceptance, duration and automatic deletion after visiting a site. Since data protection is important, users should be aware of possible risks. If data transfer occurs over unencrypted networks (e.g. unsecured Wi-Fi), cookies could be intercepted.
TIPS FOR SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE BROWSING BASED ON COOKIES
Because most popular sites use cookies, they are practically unavoidable. Disabling cookies may block access to commonly used sites like YouTube, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.
STORAGE PERIODS OF COOKIE DATA
The retention periods of cookies and similar technologies are fully described in the Data Security Policy published on the Platform.
